JOSEPH VACOLA On Thursday, July 5, 2001 at the Fort Garry Care Centre, our beloved father, grandfather and uncle passed away peacefully in his daughters arms. Dad was predeceased by Mom, his wife Mary, in January 1997. Joe was born on June 3, 1918 and was the son of Fred and Polly Wakula, predeceased. He was also predeceased by his brother Johnny who was killed overseas, 1945 in Holland. He is survived by his children, Gloria (Jerry) Pappin, Gerry (Margit) and Joanne (Ray) Remillard; grandchildren, Kristine, Kevin, Roberta, Danielle and Jordan Marie; step-grandchildren, Heather and Bryan Pappin; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Clark and Nettie Boissonneault; brother-in-law Stan Pardoski and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Joe grew up in the Sifton area, married Mom on September 25, 1944 and together spent their lives living in Dauphin, Sudbury, Toronto, Wadena and Winnipeg. He loved family get togethers, teaching his "kids" how to fish, hunt and drive the riding lawn mower. Dad loved to make perogies and lemon pies for anyone, and enjoyed his time out at the cottage gardening. By Joes expressed wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Monday, July 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St., with Father Andrew Wach officiating and Father Michael Winn assisting. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date in Dauphin. A gathering for family and friends will follow the memorial service. The family is most grateful to Drs. Maurice Shnider and S.N. Sinha for being there for our Dad over the past years. We the family want to thank the staff at the Fort Garry Care Centre (nicknamed Cookie Faces by Dad), for being so caring and compassionate towards dad and his family. The family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Fort Garry Care Centre, 1776 Pembina Hwy., R3T 2G2 or to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Hwy., R3T 2E8. REST IN PEACE POPPA, WE LOVE YOU. LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1501 Waverley Street 949-4860
