PHILIPPE WILFRED MARTEL Peacefully on Tuesday, July 3, 2001 with his family at his side, Philippe Wilfred Martel, beloved husband of Eleanor of Marchand, passed away at the Bethesda Hospital at the age of 60 years. He is survived by his loving wife Eleanor of 41 years; three sons, Richard (Sabine) of LaBroquerie, Anthony (Patti) of Marchand and Kenneth (Teresa) of Marchand; seven grandchildren, Brandon, Blaine, Amber, Laryssa, Jessie, Justin and Dennis; two brothers, Rene and Eugene; three sisters, Anita, Susanne and Roseline; and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Noel and Aline Martel. Philippe was a professional truck driver for many years with various Manitoba trucking firms including Kleysen, Reimer and most recently Penner International. He enjoyed Country Western Music and was part of "The Country Sweethearts" performing in many areas of Western Canada. Prayers and viewing on Monday, July 9 at 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joachim Roman Catholic Church in LaBroquerie, with Rev. Fr. Leonce Aubin officiating. Interment will follow at the Marchand Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
