THEOPHILE (PHIL) DEMARCKE Suddenly at his home in Lorette on Sunday, July 8, 2001, Theophile (Phil) Demarcke passed away at the age of 78 years. Phil is survived by his sons, Colin (Vickie), and Jerry; his grandchildren, David and Sylvia (Pierre) his great-grandchildren, Daniel and Nicole; his brother Joseph (Rolande) sisters, Helen and Lily; and sister-in-law Denise; and their families. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Marguerite; his parents, Hector and Marie Louise; his brothers, Leopoldus (Paul), Victor, Petrus (Pete) and by his sisters, Anna and Marie. He was born in Isle-des-Chenes, MB. Phil married his wife Marguerite in June 1942 in Lorette and here they raised their family and farmed together. Later Phil worked for the Department of Highways until his retirement. Phil had a zest for life, spending many hours looking after his animals (giving away countless numbers of the best tasting turkeys and chickens) building bird houses and picture frames; making wine and of course, being first in line at Safeway for the "early morning bargains". He loved playing cards with his friends, his family, and at his club. Recently Phil enjoyed many hours having coffee with his friends. He was so happy to attend the Year 2000 Demarcke Family Reunion last August, meeting with young and old and collecting family pictures which he treasured. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the many home care workers for all their help. Prayers will be said on Thursday, July 12 at 10:00 a.m. from Notre-Dame-de-Lorette Roman Catholic Church, Lorette, MB with the funeral liturgy following, presided by Rev. Fr. Maurice Jeanneau. Interment will follow in the Notre-Dame-de-Lorette Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7 or a charity of ones choice. GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
