IDA LEWIS After a long and healthy life, Ida passed away July 2, 2001, at the Sharon Home in Winnipeg. She was 94 years old. A devoted mother, wife, grandmother, and career woman, she was predeceased by her husband of more than 65 years Herbert; and son Harvey. Born Ida Hayman, the eldest of five children in North Dakota, USA in 1907, she is survived by her sister Betty Lenett of Vancouver; her daughter, ballet dancer/actress Lillian Lewis Samuels of Toronto; and grandsons, Steven Samuels of Toronto, and David Samuels of New York. In her later years, she was lovingly attended to by her companions, Francie Strachan and Angelina Cornico; her nieces, Arlene Omsen and Susan Halprin Klein; and nursing staff at the Sharon Home. A private family gathering was held on July 4 in Winnipeg at Rosh Pina Memorial Park for interment.
