Together they raised six children during the depression years that contributed to her frugal nature. Winnifred belonged to Warren Womens Institute for many years and repeatedly held office of President and Secretary/Treasurer. Her home and family were most important to her. She lived her life in good health and sound mind. Music, the Free Press daily crossword puzzles and her scrapbooks were her passion that sustained her into her 97th year. Winnifred is survived by daughter Joan Jones (Norm) of Winnipeg and grandchildren, Janice and Susan; her son Alan (Pat) of Argyle and grandchildren, Colleen, Sharron and Merrilee; son Brian of Edmonton and grandchildren, Holly, Heather and Greg; and daughter-in-law Judy of Warren and grandchildren, George and Duncan; son-in-law Jerry Pringle and granddaughter Laurie. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren and special close friends and relatives. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1969; a daughter Isobel; two sons, John and Gary; daughter-in-law Deanna; and grandson Ross. In 1973, Winnifred moved to Winnipeg where she enjoyed visiting with friends, travelling, volunteering for the Historical Society and attending performances of the symphony and theatre. In 1990, she moved to Stonewood Place in Stonewall where she renewed old friendships in the surrounding communities. In 2000, she moved to Rosewood Lodge where she was able to access the generous and understanding help from nurses and staff for her failing eyesight and loss of hearing. The family will honour Winnifreds wishes with immediate cremation and a family memorial service on August 16. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Winnifreds memory to Rosewood Lodge, Stonewall, MB R0C 2Z0 or a charity of ones choice. "Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life."
