Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD RIDDELL WOOKEY July 12, 1929 - July 9, 2001 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Don Wookey on July 9, 2001 at the age of 71. Don is survived by his wife Terry; sons, Russ (Ellen) and Cal (Danielle) and daughter Diana De Blonde (Garry) grandchildren, Joel, Riley and Karen De Blonde and Janelle and Jeremie Wookey; and his sister Barb Johnson (Ron). Don was predeceased by his father Harold and his mother Jeanette (Riddell). Don was born in Winnipeg. He attended Earl Grey and Kelvin Schools. He married Terry Coyle in 1951. In the same year, Don obtained his degree in Architecture from the University of Manitoba. He practiced as an architect for 35 years, starting with Moody Moore and Partners as a partner. He was instrumental in the design of many major buildings in Winnipeg and Manitoba, embracing the design aspects of the architectural field. Don cherished his family and was involved with his childrens activities such as baseball, curling, swimming, golfing, fishing and scouts. He was active in community organizations such as the St. Vital Y.M.C.A., Glenwood Community Club, St. Vital Curling Club, Glenwood Community Revitalization Program, St. Vital Senior Centre and St. Marks Church. One of his greatest loves was spending family time at the cottage on the lake at Victoria Beach. He enjoyed golf, curling, bridge, swimming, badminton and many other activities. Don was a generous, unpretentious, loving and caring person. He had a love and determination to be active and involved with others around him. Friends are invited to join the family in the celebration of his life at a service on Friday, July 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held later. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Arthritis Society at 105 - 386 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 3R6.
