Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALICE MAY STEWART (nee WINMILL) On Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at the Health Sciences Centre, Alice Stewart of Lions Place. She was born in Sandhurst, England, coming to Canada at an early age and had resided in or near Winnipeg most of her life. She was a member of Queen Winnipeg Chapter #1, and Constallation Chapter #38, Order of the Eastern Star; Althea Shrine #2, Order of the White Shrine; and had been an ardent lawn bowler at Vimy Park Lawn Bowling Club, an alley bowler and curler. She also served as a volunteer at the Manitoba Cancer Clinic. In her later years, she was very active as a volunteer at Lions Place, and took part in the many activities offered at the residence. Predeceased by her husband Alexander in 1981 after 51 years of marriage; three sisters, Kathleen James, Joan Beacham, and Florence Bishop; and one brother Arthur Winmill. She is survived by one son, James (Adele) Stewart of Belleville, ON; one daughter Shirley (Rodger) Christle of Winnipeg; six grandchildren, William Stewart, Sharon Stewart, Douglas Archer, Gail Heese, Barbara Canvin, Donna Breese; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother Jack Winmill. A service and celebration of life will be held, Monday, July 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Lions Place. At her request, cremation has taken place. If so desired, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8.
