Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWIN JAMES McCONKEY (ED) April 25, 1939 - July 1, 2001 It is with great sadness that Eds family announces his passing, in Seattle, WA, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his father Thomas McConkey in 1982. He leaves to mourn his special friend and partner Linda Loving, his son Calvin, daughter Tara (husband Harris), Taras mother Jeannie, grandson Thomas McConkey. Also his mother Dorothy McConkey; and five sisters, (twin) Evelyn Gariepy (Fern), Lillian Jarvis (George), Betty Goddard of Vancouver, BC (ex-husband George), Ruth Gilchrist (Hans), Wendy Courchaine (Roger). He also had many nephews and nieces and numerous friends. Ed lived most of his life in Winnipeg where he worked as a salesman; the last few years he lived on the West Coast. Ed was a gifted man in many ways, those who heard him sing will long remember his voice in song; he was also a talented artist. The family would like to express special thanks to Linda (his Guardian Angel), as he called her, who was not only his special friend but at his side during his illness and gave Ed such great love and comfort. When a Loved One is Taken From Us, We often say, "Why did this have to be?" But blessings come in many ways That sometimes we cant see. "You now walk with God at your Side" But you will always walk in our hearts. Memorial service will be held on Saturday July 14, at 11:00 a.m. at the Rockwood Army and Navy, 341 Wilton St., Winnipeg, MB.
