KENNETH ERNEST MERRETT 1927 - 2001 Peacefully, in his sleep on July 11, 2001, Ken Merrett passed away after a lengthy illness. Ken is survived by his wife of 53 years, Muriel; his children, Linda Groff (Bob), Glenn (Cynthia), Debbie Lapointe (Ken) and brother Bert (Mary) and was predeceased by son Gary. He is also mourned by his grand-children, Michelle, Robyn, Meghan, Ryan, Laura and Brooke. Ken was born on November 21, 1927 and spent his early years attending the Salvation Army and later Bethesda Church. His church and his strong faith played a vital role in his life and helped give him the strength to fight his illness. Ken worked for Eatons until he retired after 45 years. He enjoyed many years at his cottage on Barren Lake and although he travelled all over Canada and the United States, his favourite trips were always shopping excursions to Fargo. Wed like to thank Jules, Trig, Richard, Irv, Bernice and Elaine for their kindness and also oncology at VGH and our many friends who have been so supportive during his illness. A private family burial will be held on Monday, July 16, followed by a memorial service at Bethesda Church, 1350 Grant Ave., at 2:30 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined; donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
