Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCAPTAIN MELVIN JOHN PARKS Born July 16, 1927 in Lac du Bonnet, MB, Mel passed away peacefully at home in Abbotsford, BC on July 3, 2001, with son Greg by his side. Mel is survived by his son Greg Parks and family; wife Lynn; grandchildren, Pamela, Michael and Erin of Abbotsford, BC; daughter Diane Petersen and family; grandchildren, Nyssa, Kristin and Ryan of Novato, CA. Sisters, June Yeats, Phyllis August, Shirley Paterson, Irene Parkes, Evelene Parks; brothers, Larry, Earl and Harold. Predeceased by his wife Marlene after 45 years of marriage; parents John and Mary Parks; sisters, Gladys and Berniece. Mel began his flying career at age 22 in Thunder Bay, ON. He joined the RCAF and served a few years before beginning a commercial airline career with Nordair (Wheeler Airlines) in 1957. Mel was a dedicated and loving husband and father. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 207 South Brodie St., Thunder Bay, ON on July 19 at 1:30 p.m.
