Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORA ASHAM March 27, 1906 - July 12, 2001 Words cannot express our sadness in announcing the sudden passing of my dear Mother, our nanny, great-grandmother, sister and aunty, on July 12, 2001. She is survived by her daughter Karen (Walter) Marcynuik of Regina, SK, her grandchildren, Lynn, Trevor and Troy; great-grandchildren, Crystal (12), Brett (14), Meagan, all of Regina, SK; brother Lawrence Good of Burnaby BC; sister-in-law Edith Thickfoot of Peguis, MB; nieces, Donna Whileside of Winnipeg, MB; Jean Davidson of Ottawa, ON; nephew James Forbes of Ontario. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews from Fisher Bay, Fisher River and surrounding areas. She was predeceased by her husband Howard on April 17, 1998; sisters, Margaret, Marion, Dorothy; brothers, Wilf, Harold, Walter and Gordon. Nora was born in Lenore, MB, March 27, 1906. She attended school in Virden, MB. She went to Normal School in Winnipeg to become a teacher. The first school she taught at was Northland School, in Manitoba, where she met Howard. She then went to teach at Pine Falls, MB and taught at many various schools for Indian Affairs, in Manitoba, for the next 40 years. She ended her teaching career on the Fisher River Reserve, Nora and Howard then retired to Fisher Bay. Nora loved her home at Fisher Bay, where Randy came to reside with her after Howard passed away. She would not have been able to enjoy feeding and watching her birds and squirrels, all her beautiful flowers and the nature around her, if not for Randy. We all thank Randy for being there for (Mom) Nora. She and Randy also went to church every Sunday at Fisher River and Dallas. Nora was also Treasurer for the Hodgson Legion, for 28 years of her life. Wake service will be held at Fisher River United Church on Tuesday, July 17 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Fisher River United Church on Wednesday, July 18 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be done by Rev. Gloria Muskegow, Pastor Hill and Aileen Urquhart. Interment to follow at St. Peters Anglican Cemetery, Peguis Reserve. Lunch to be held at the Fisher River United Church Hall, after burial. Everyone Welcome. Flowers are gratefully declined. If desired, those who wish to do so, may make donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of MB, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8.
