ALEX BOBBIE Peacefully, at his home on Monday, July 16, 2001, Alex died at the age of 69 years. Alex was born in Fraserwood, MB and raised in Malonton, MB. At the age of 17 years, he ventured out into the work force which took him to many parts of Canada. He worked at the Sudbury Nickel Mine and Red Lake Gold Mine in Ontario, and also on the Castlegar Pipeline in British Columbia. Alex became a mechanic, heavy equipment operator and welder. He was always known for looking after his parents. Upon each return home he would show up wearing a red cap and carrying a couple of rings of kolbassa. Alex spent the latter years of his life residing at Knights of Saint Josaphat where he made many friends. Uncle Alex will be remembered by his nieces and nephews for things such as the "Cophenhagen Ritual", the Cracker Jack and bologna he would bring us, the fun and games, and that he always let us tag along whenever he went visiting or had errands to run. All of those who had the privilege of knowing him, knew of his easy going personality and that he was liked amongst many friends and acquaintances. Remaining to forever cherish Alexs memory are his brother Sam (Desa) of Riverton, MB; sister Rose (Lawrence) of Winnipeg, MB; six nieces and nephews of Winnipeg and the surrounding area, Allan Blahut (Lori), Janice Croswell (Robin), Valerie Blahut, Brian Blahut (Doreen), Dianne Roeland (Daniel), Darlene Blahut (Rick) and by ten great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Michael, mother Helen, and father Steve Bobbie. Alexs funeral service will be held on Monday, July 23 at 10:00 a.m., in the Deer Lodge United Church, 2093 Portage Ave. at Belvidere Street, Winnipeg, MB. Interment will follow in the St. Stephen Greek Orthodox Cemetery, Teulon, MB.
