KENNETH CHARLES BROOK Suddenly, on July 14, 2001, at the Holy Family Nursing Home, with Marcelle at his side, Ken passed away at the age of 91. Ken was predeceased by his daughter Nora and his sister Alice. Ken will be greatly missed by Marcelle, his wife of 65 years; sons, Raye (Rhonda) and Clifford (Beverly) grandsons, Russ Johannson (Carol Ann), Deryl (Liz), Terry (Jeannie) granddaughter Krista. Lovingly remembered by great-grandchildren, Chantelle, Daryl, Sheliza, Chelsea, Brittany, Megan, Chad, Tiara, and Brice. Ken came to Canada in 1926, moving to Eriksdale and learning to be postmaster and the basics of farming. He met a young, French lady who captured his heart and they were married in June of 1936. Dad joined the Army in 1941 and was discharged in 1945 after the war. During which time he was presented with an award of the British Empire Medal. Dad and Mum farmed in the Reynolds District until 1950 when Ken and his family moved to Winnipeg. Dad tried several jobs before finally going to work for the Attorney Generals Department where he worked for 20 plus years. Dad helped organize the rehabilitation camps. He became supervisor of the Oxbow Beach, then subsequently was Camp Director at Falcon Lake for many years. He was a cool, calm and persuasive leader who brought out the best in staff and provided guidance to the men in under his care. Upon retirement Dad and Mum travelled back to England and France several times, but Dad was a family man. Some of his best times and clearly some of his most cherished moments were experienced fishing and trapping with his sons and grandsons on the trapline in the Whiteshell. Mum and Dad also spent many years doing needlework of the finest quality, including wildlife portraits. In 1998, due to failing health, Mum and Dad entered the Holy Family Nursing Home. We wish to express our thanks to the caregivers and staff at the Holy Family Nursing Home for the love and care given so generously to Mum and Dad. Thank you! Memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception to follow. Honourary pallbearers are Vincent Clifford, Gordon Perry, Steve Rushowick, Alfred Lindsay, and Gerald Hart. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dads memory to a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
