JANET RITCHIE HARNDEN 1919 - 2001 Peacefully, on July 15, 2001, Janet went home to the Lord. Janet was predeceased by her parents and her son-in-law Fred. Janet is survived by her loving husband Harold; her daughter Wenda; her sons, Wayne (Donna) and Wesley (Theresa) and grandchildren, Karen, Ellen, and Stuart; cousin Lorna Greer (Roy) and numerous relatives in Scotland. Janet was born in Scotland to William and Helen Goodwin. Janet came to Canada when she was three and her family settled in Headingley when she was ten years old. She joined the Air Force during the Second World War, where she met and later married Hal, her husband of 56 years. At the age of 50, Janet got her Grade 12 and took courses to become a licensed practical nurse. Her last and longest nursing assignment was at the Salvation Army Golden West Centennial Lodge. Over the years, she was a 4-H leader, a choir member, and a Sunday School superintendent and teacher for the United Church. In her retirement, Janet was a member of the Charleswood Art Club and the Historical Society. The family would like to thank the caring staff on the second floor of the Golden West Centennial Lodge. To me, Fair Friend, you never can be old, For as you were when first your eye I eyed, Such seems your beauty still. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 19 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception will follow. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
