Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID KERR McINTOSH WILSON The family of David Kerr McIntosh Wilson is sad to announce that he left this world Monday, July 16, 2001 surrounded by his loving family with the dignity that he lived his life. David is survived by his wife of 60 years, Fern Wilson (Spencer) daughters, Trucia Mae (Ralph) Howard and their family, Roberta and Eric Moores (Evan), Ryan Howard, Drew Howard and Jennifer Kasprick; Valerie (Bob) Sciberras and their family, Troy and Quinn and many nieces and nephews. His sister Isabel (Bunty) Van Buren survived him, but unfortunately passed away July 17, 2001. His parents, Isabel and Charles Wilson and his sisters and their spouses predeceased him: Victoria (Murdo) MacLeod, Jean (Pearly) Marshall and Paul Van Buren. David was born in Dundee, Scotland May 14, 1917 and in 1928 the family immigrated to Canada, settling in Winnipeg, He attended Lord Roberts and Kelvin High School. In 1936 David started working with the then Winnipeg Electric as a machinist, his employment was interrupted with the start of the Second World War. He enlisted on April 5, 1941 and served most of his time in Holland serving with the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps and Corps of Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers with an honourable discharge on November 6, 1945. After the war Dad returned to the Winnipeg Electric, retiring in 1981. David and Fern were married on April 21, 1941 and 10 days later David was deployed to war. This past April they celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary with a gathering of family and friends. In 1946 David was initiated into Ionic Lodge #25, A.F. & A.M. participating on many committees, the one most important to him being the planning of Ionic Winnipeg visit to Ionic Duluth. Dad participated in the first cross border visit to Duluth in 1946 and never missed any subsequent visits. Over the years he made many friends across the border in Duluth and he will be sorely missed on the next visitation. He served as Master of Ionic #25 in 1976; the highlight of the year was the initiation of his two sons-in-law into Ionic. He was a member of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite - Valley of Winnipeg. In 1981 he joined the Drum and Bugle Corps of the Khartum Shrine Temple. He was ever so proud to play his cymbals, even if he was out of step with the rest of the band. He traveled to many Mid-western Conventions, returning with another great story. He was a member of Fort Garry Chapter #17, O.E.S. and served as Worthy Patron. He and Mom traveled all over the world and the number of pictures he took indicated he truly had a good time. David was a true family man, and we were truly fortunate to have him as a husband, Dad and Grandfather. Whenever there was a reason to gather, he always insisted on dinner around the dining table at "home". His two daughters and grandchildren, Bobbie, Ryan, Drew, Troy and Quinn always had his unconditional love and support. On February 14, 2001 he received the gift of a great-grandson Evan James Moores, of whom he was so very proud. Cremation has taken place, a memorial service will be held on Monday, July 23 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. There will also be a Masonic Service held in conjunction with the memorial service - regalia may be worn.
