Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryYAEKO TERANISHI After a lengthy illness, Yaeko Teranishi passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 15, 2001, at Riverview Health Centre, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 95. Mom will be lovingly remembered by children, Fusayo "Sally" Takeuchi, Ichiro (Aiko), Kiyomi "Kim" (Frank) Tazumi, Fujiko "Teri" (Will) Oye, Naomi (Masao) Miyai, and Gordon (Shirley) 22 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Mom was predeceased by her husband Chutaro in 1981; son-in-law Yutaka (Bill) Takeuchi; grandson Bradley Takeuchi; and grandson-in-law Stuart Peloski. Mom was born on October 23, 1905, in Wakayama Ken, Japan. She married Dad in 1927 and came to Canada in 1928. The family were evacuated from Vancouver to Manitoba in 1942, where we worked on the sugar beet farm until 1949. Moving to Winnipeg that same year, mom worked as a seamstress until 1971. During her retirement, mom enjoyed her garden, knitting, many crafts, and visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom was a devout member of Manitoba Buddhist Church which she was actively involved in. Weve been blessed to have mom so many years to guide us through good and bad times. We will all miss her dearly. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 19, 7:00 p.m. at Manitoba Buddhist Church, 825 Winnipeg Ave., and Friday, July 20, 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with Sensei Ulrich celebrant. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens and a gathering of family and friends will be in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in moms memory to Riverview Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 9Z9 or a charity of your choice. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the doctors and staff at the Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care Unit, the Homecare staff, and nurses of VON for all their care and compassion. Special thanks are given to Mariette Ternowski, Barb Bell, and Dr. D. DeGroot for their exceptional kindness throughout the ordeal.
