DANIEL COOK February 13, 1908 - July 16, 2001 Surrounded by his family, Daniel passed away at 2:15 p.m. on July 16, 2001. Daniel was born in Grand Rapids, MB and made his home there all his life with a few brief forays to other communities over the years. Dan was also a skilled trapper, hunter and gatherer and he raised his family to respect and live off the land. In his later years, Daniel owned and operated a tourist camp in Cross Lake where his grandchildren enjoyed many blissful days of fishing, swimming and just having fun with grandma and grandpa. Daniel leaves 50 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. Dan was predeceased by his loving wife Angelique; sons, Walter, Danny and Russell; son-in-law Hubert Sinclair; mother and father, Annie and Soloman Cook; brothers, Neil, Alpheus, Bill, Bruce, Walter and Hugh; and sister Ruby Blake. Pallbearers, Fred Sinclair, Chandler McLeod, Allan Cook, Sean Arthurson, James Cox, Mark Hutchinson, John Armstrong, Dwayne Cook. Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. James Anglican Church. Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff of the Kildonan Personal Care Home and the staff at the Concordia Hospital for the gentle care they provided to our father. Rejoice I rejoice with you and in you Creator. Grandfather, I hear your voice. You speak with the Four Winds. In prayer I listen to the booming of their cries, sighs and whispers. Creator, Grandfather, Turn your wheel. Your daughter, the Mother Will dress to your desires. Her heart Beats loud in my ears. My feet, my mind, cannot help but dance. Winter, spring, summer, fall bathe me with their weathers. They teach and I learn their lessons. With each footfall I thank you. Grandfather, I nourish the seed of you, within myself, it is my flame. When my time has come that which is of my Mother shall again belong to the Earth. My flame will fly, alive with your pulse. Free, to dance boundless. Until it is time, to practice my piece again. Dedicated to my Grandfather Daniel Cook by Michael Hutchinson
