JOSEPH SCHILLINGER Peacefully, on July 17, 2001, Joseph passed away at Jocelyn House less than 2 months short of his 95th birthday. Joseph was born in Hungary and had been predeceased by wife Magdeline in 1996; four siblings in Hungary, Paul, Michael, Hans and Elizabeth. Left to remember him are his son John (Janis) grandchildren, Scott, Mark, Heather, Nancy Carpenter (Glen) and Pamela Lowry (Glen) and four great-grandchildren Duncan, Devin, Brenden and Derek. In addition his nephew Joseph (Edith), their children Mark and Michael, also his very dear friends Gusty and Steve Baumstark. Joseph immigrated to Canada in 1928 in the hope of establishing a farm but the Depression changed that dream, managing merely to survive as so many others did. He began his employment with the City of Winnipeg, Water Works in 1946 and retired in 1971. His retirement years were well spent first at the cottage by the Lee River and always with his garden. The family would like to thank the very competent and caring staff of Jocelyn House and Riverview Palliative Care Unit for care they gave. As well Gusty and Steve Baumstark for their tremendous support and help they gave him over the years. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, July 20 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Munroe and Brazier, East Kildonan with Fr. Greg Mulligan officiating. Inurnment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Josephs memory to CancerCare Manitoba, P.O. Box 2248, Stn. Main, Winnipeg, R3C 9Z9. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements 586-8044.
