Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySAMUEL JAMES (JIM) HUME Suddenly on July 17, 2001 Samuel James passed away at the age of 61 years. Jim was predeceased by his mother Jean, father Samuel and grandmother Mary. He will be very sadly missed by his wife Gale; daughter Michelle and husband Ron; daughter Colleen and husband Lance; and grandchildren, Bryce and Paige; as well as many, many dear friends, colleagues and associates. Jim was born in Winnipeg and resided in Manitoba throughout his life. Jim attended United College. He earned a Bachelor of Theology Degree in 1963 and was ordained as a minister in the United Church of Canada in 1964. Jim also pursued a Masters Degree in Criminology at the University of Ottawa. In 1988, Jim earned a Masters of Divinity from the University of Winnipeg and in 1996 a Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy. Throughout his life Jim was an active clergyman with the United Church of Canada, serving numerous congregations around Manitoba. In 1973, Jim was employed by the Correctional Services of Canada. He was an avid hockey player and sports fan. He enjoyed travelling and spending time with his family. Jim devoted many hours to serving God and helping others. A memorial service will be held at the Broadway Disciples United Church, 396 Broadway at Kennedy Street at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 20, with the Reverend Gordon Fulford officiating. The committal will take place following the church service at Glen Eden Memorial Garden.
