MAY MARGRETTA BARKER
Date of Passing: Jul 05, 2001
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAY MARGRETTA BARKER With sadness we grieve the loss of our mother, grandmother and friend who quietly and peacefully left us on Thursday, July 5, 2001 at the Charleswood Care Centre. While Mom was ill for many years, it is comforting to know that she is now with the man who lived for her, her devoted husband Jack. Daughters, Judy and Darlene and families Jeff, Stephan, Kevin and Scott Lodeweyckx of Belgium and Wally, Michael and Kalyn Pyl of Winnipeg will miss and think of her always. Mom was born and raised near Souris, MB in the small town of Beresford. She was predeceased by two brothers, Norman and Jim Cox and a sister, Irene Campbell. She was actively involved in community and school organizations and sang in church choirs in Brandon, Swan River and Neepawa. Our mother lived to capture the present and was an avid collector of memories. She preserved thousands of precious moments in drawers, boxes, countless photo albums and diaries. In eulogizing our mother, our memories of her many talents and skills are superceded by her endless patience and unselfish dedication to her family. She worried and fretted over her children and grandchildren and spoiled us all with unconditional love. Our mom will be remembered for her loyalty to and concern for family members and lifelong friends. She was a warm and caring person who went out of her way to make a stranger feel special and welcome. Mom tied her family and friends together with ribbons of love. For her devotion and thoughtfulness, we will always be grateful. The family would like to thank Moms friends for their loyalty, visits and love over the years and for the attention and care given to her by the staff at the Charleswood Care Centre. While it was sad and painful to see Mom suffer, we will always remember her as a vibrant, happy and socializing person. Those who wish to remember the lady we all loved and knew can do so by supporting the work and efforts of the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2. A small graveside service and reception to celebrate our Mothers life will be held on Tuesday, July 24 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley St., with Rev. Michael Wilson officiating. LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1501 Waverley Street 949-4960
