Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMINNIE VIOLET SIM (nee Cross) Peacefully, after a brief illness, on July 20, 2001 at the age of 79 years. Violet was born on April 26, 1922 in Yorkton, SK to William Henry and Minnie Cross. She married George Sim on February 14, 1942, living in many parts of Canada as a military family. George and Violet had four children - Jim, Ron, Ken, and Brenda. A loving mother and grandmother, Violet devoted her life to her family and to creating a home. Her special interests included gardening, knitting, and sewing, but her passion was for her family. Violet was predeceased by her brother Albert in 1945; father William Henry in 1946; son Jim in 1984; mother Minnie in 1991; husband George in 1992; and brother Harry in 1998. She leaves to mourn, and will be sadly missed by her children and grandchildren, Ron and Velda Sim, Ken and Holly Sim, Brenda and Richard Hebert (Katharine, Elizabeth, and Laura), and Trudy Sim-Schubert (Jeffery and Lori), as well as her sister Ethel Thyen. She said no one a last farewell, She said goodbye to none. The heavenly gates were open wide, A loving voice said "Come". Always remembered, missed, and loved by her family. Special thanks to the medical staff at the Grace and Health Sciences General Hospitals for their care and dedication to our mom and grandma these past two weeks. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 24 at 12:30 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A reception will follow. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations may be made in Violets memory to a charity of your choice.
