HELENA BEREZOWSKI (nee IWANEK) It is with deep sorrow that we wish to announce the passing of our dear Mother and Babcia on Saturday, July 21, 2001, after a brief struggle with cancer at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 69. She was predeceased by her husband Jan in 1995, parents, Francziszek and Maria; and sister Antosia. Helena was born in Rycerka Gorna, Poland on December 22, 1931. Her family moved to Dziewierzewo, Bydgoscz in 1945 where she met her husband and started her family. Helena and her family immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg in April, 1960. Helena retired from Marymound School in 1991 where she enjoyed her interaction with the staff and students. Helena had the opportunity to return to Poland on several occasions to visit family and friends. Her garden and flowers were her pride and joy for all to see. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and grandchildren. Helena was an active member of the C.W.L. at Holy Ghost Parish. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory her three children, daughter Maria (Leonard) Poworoznik, grandchildren, Ryan, Alina and Robert; son Jozef (Barbara), grandchildren, Melissa, Matthew and Daniel; son Henryk (Ellen-Louise Davis), grandchildren, Karli-Anne, Janell, Madelyn and Hillary; as well as her special friend and companion Stanley Skorupski. Also left to mourn her passing are many relatives residing in Poland. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, on 109-675 McDermot Avenue Winnipeg MB, R3E 0V9. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff at Riverview Health Centre for their care and compassion. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, July 24, at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 25, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. You were always there when we needed you No task too great or small With a loving heart and a willing hand For us you did them all. Thanks for the years you gave us, And for the precious times we shared, We only pray when you left us You knew how much we cared. God saw you getting tired.
