MARY TURCHYN Mrs. Mary Turchyn, widow of the late Peter Turchyn, passed away at the Fred Douglas Lodge on Sunday July 22, 2001 at the age of 94 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Alex (Verna) her son-in-law Walter Kupiak; daughter-in-law Sally Turchyn; as well as six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Natalie Chinski of Saskatoon and Millie Smerchynski of Vancouver and their families. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Peter, son Mike and daughter Ann; four brothers and two sisters. Mary was born June 25, 1908 in the Medika district in Manitoba. Following their marriage, she and Peter made their home in the Prawda area. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Family gatherings in her home were special times for everyone. She was an extremely hard worker who was very devoted to her husband and family. Funeral service will be held at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church at Watt Street and Munroe Avenue on Wednesday, July 25 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Marys Riverside Cemetery, Prawda, MB. The family wish to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Oak Ward at the Fred Douglas Lodge for their kind and compassionate care.
