Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER WALTER LEVENEC February 27, 1946 - July 23, 2001 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our husband and father, Peter Levenec. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 28 years, Valerie (nee Lapointe) and by his sons, Marc and Vincent. He also leaves his brothers, Mike (Dorothy) and John (Jean) and his sister Katherine; as well as many close family and friends. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Maria Levenec; sisters, Dorothy and Sophy; and brothers-in-law, Jack and Fern. Peter was born in Vita, MB on February 27, 1946. He spent his childhood on the family farm in Sirko until he moved to Winnipeg at the age of 17. He then began his long career as an electrician. After a few years, he moved his family back to Sundown where they lived for the next 12 years. They then moved to Ile-des-Chenes where the family still resides. Peter was currently employed at Pickseed Canada and was on holidays spending special time with his wife Val at the time of his passing. Peter was known as a dedicated, hard-working and soft-spoken brother, uncle and friend. He was always there to lend a helping hand. Peters many interests and hobbies included their "cottage" in Sundown where he was the treasurer of St. Peter and Pauls Ukrainian Orthodox Church. A nature lover, Peter enjoyed his yard while bird-watching and feeding wild rabbits. Funeral services for Peter will be held at the Notre-Dame de la Misericorde Church in Ile-des-Chenes, MB, on Friday, July 27 at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Armand LeGal will officiate. Viewing will take place at the church at 9:15 a.m. Interment will take place in the Ile-des-Chenes Parish Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers will be Peters nephews, Scott Rey, Ken Levenec, Allen Levenec, Marcel Nolette, Brian Henson, and Raymond Papineau. A memorial service will be held in Sundown at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peters memory to his favourite charity, the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9.
