Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLLOYD CLARKE SCALES Mr. Lloyd Clarke Scales passed away quietly with his daughter Lois at his side at the Grace Hospital on Sunday, July 22, after a battle with cancer. He and his twin brother Stanley were born in Brandon on April 3, 1910. Lloyd was predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 1984, and is survived by his daughter Lois Rodgers; grandsons, Darrell (Terry), Jason (Allison) and Jeff (Susan) his great-grandchildren, Kendra, Hunter, Rachel and Tanisha; his sister Alice Dolding; his cousin Mac Scales and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his companion of many years, Mrs. Marg Gillis and her sons, Jim (Orla), Doug (Wendy), Ron (Jeanette) of Omaha; and daughter Judy Fredricks (Will) of Kelowna and many grandchildren. He was a very kind and gentle man who was loved by all and always did his best and thought the best of everyone - a complete optimist and postive thinker. Lloyd pursued several careers and hobbies in his lifetime, ending his working career as superintendent of Black Brant Rocket production at Bristol Aerospace. He was one of the founders and president of the labour union, and being well known as a fair and gentle man, was often called on as mediator and problem-solver. He was a founder of the Aircrafters Credit Union and served as president for 21 years. He served on many other organizations as well, such as the American Society of Metals. He was active in the United Church and served as an Elder and as a Steward. He was an avid golfer and played 18 holes several times a week until he was almost 90. He is also well known for his beautiful needlepoint pictures and other crafts he enjoyed. He had a deep abiding faith in God, which brought him a great deal of comfort and peace throughout his life. He travelled a great deal during his association with Bristol, and also enjoyed many trips in his retirement years with Marg, to such places as Spain, Florida, Cuba, Australia and cruises to various ports of call, making friends wherever he went. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 26 at Heritage Park Temple, 825 School Rd., and will be conducted by Captains Phil and Bev Franco. Private interment later at Brookside Cemetery. Dad requested no flowers, please, but should friends desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the charity of their choice. Many thanks to all who gave him such loving attentive care during his stay at Grace Hospital - and to Major Kath MacFarlane and Major Bill Loveless for their support and kindness to Dad and to his family during this difficult time. Many thanks also to Dr. Pat Harris and to Dr. D. Hartley for their care and compassion towards Dad. God Bless! NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
