MARY SIMMONDS With great sadness, the family of Mary Simmonds announces her passing at age 91 years on July 21, 2001 at the Misericordia Health Centre. She was predeceased by her husband Roy in 1982 and her son Paul in 1957. Left to cherish her memory are her children, John (Angela), Glen and Cheryl, all of Winnipeg; and grandchildren, Gary (April) with great-granddaughter Sabrina of Winnipeg, Ronald (Jackie) of Calgary, and Tanya of Vancouver. Born May 15, 1910 in Kamenka, Russia, she immigrated to Canada in 1913 with her family settling first in Edmonton and then Winnipeg in 1927. She married her husband Roy in 1934 and raised her family in Winnipeg. Mary loved reading poetry and literature, playing Scrabble, doing crosswords and gardening. Mother enjoyed living in her own home until a few months prior to her death. She was a kind and generous woman who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her family would like to thank her physician Dr. Patrick Griffin for his excellent care and the staff of St. Boniface Hospital and Misericordia Interim Care who cared for her in the last few months of her life. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 27 at 7:00 p.m. at The First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg, 603 Wellington Cres.
