JENNIE MARION SULLIVAN Peacefully in Calgary, AB on Saturday, July 21, 2001, after facing cancer the way she did all the challenges of her life - with determination and dignity. Marion was born on December 5, 1925 in Portage la Prairie, MB to Douglas and Ottilie Yuill (Grahame). Marion was raised by her aunt, Catherine Metcalf (Kate Yuill). Growing up like a sister to Kates only daughter Ottilie, Marion attended school in Portage la Prairie. It was there that she met Jack Sullivan and they were married in Winnipeg in 1945 while he was a Pilot Officer in the R.C.A.F. Over the next 24 years she supported Jack in his military career as they raised their three daughters in a variety of military postings across Canada and overseas, Jack earning the rank of Wing Commander before his own early death from cancer in 1969. For many years, Marions loving companion has been Uwe Rusch. In 1980 they moved to Calgary, which has been their home since and where Marion was an Associate Member of the Royal Canadian Legion. In addition to Uwe, Marion is survived by her devoted daughters, Ottilie (Paul) in Cheltenham, ON, Kathryn (Jimmy) and Nicole (Richard) in Ottawa; and five grandchildren, Derek and Kenneth, Harleigh, Jennie and Christopher. Also mourning are her three half-sisters, Muriel (Charlie) Shepherd of Lethbridge, AB, Beth Money of Bremerton, WA, Susan (Bill) Roll of Bonita, CA; and one half-brother BGen (retired) Allan Douglas (Joan) Yuill of Grandview, MB. Three generations of cousins, nieces and nephews, and her friends from coast to coast and overseas also mourn her passing. A graveside memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 20 at Hillside Cemetery in Portage la Prairie. Donations may be made to STARS Air Rescue Service, 1441 Aviation Park Rd. NE, Calgary, AB T2E 8M7, or to the Poppy Fund of the Royal Canadian Legion.
