LYLA BERESFORD Peacefully, with her family at her side, Lyla Beresford of Brandon, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, July 25, 2001 at the age of 82. Lyla is lovingly remembered by her husband Alex of 59 years; son Kevin (Arlene) grandchildren, Ryan, Jeff and Melanie; sisters, Fran (George) Arnold, Mary (Alex) Kennedy and Mabel (Gordon) Young. Lyla was born in Glenboro, MB on August 21, 1918. She married Alex on June 6, 1942. Lyla and Alex lived on the West Coast while Alex served in the Royal Canadian Airforce. In January, 1947 they moved to Austin, MB where they spent 33 years. They retired to Brandon in 1980 and have lived there since. Lyla was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Family was always the most important thing in her life. She always thought of others before herself. Special thanks to the nursing staff at the Brandon Regional Health Centre and the Assiniboine Centre, as well as Dr. K. Loader, for the compassionate care provided. A ceremony to celebrate Lylas life will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, Brandon on Saturday, July 28 at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Don Hudson of Knox United Church officiating. A private family interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lyla may be made to the Central United Church Memorial Fund, 327-8th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 3X5 or to the BGH Foundation, 150 McTavish Ave. East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3.
