Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMELVIN FRANK WITWICKI August 21, 1937 - July 26, 2001 With great sadness we grieve the loss of a wonderful man, Melvin Witwicki. Mel passed away suddenly at Health Sciences Centre on Thursday, July 26, 2001, following emergency cardiac by-pass surgery. Mel will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jeanne; children, Dina Wood (Jeff), John (Colleen) his three precious grandchildren, Kamila, Andrew and Jordan; brother Stanley (Jennie) of East Selkirk; sisters, Julia Cooper and Mamie Kwiatkoski of Selkirk; as well as his brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Marion, mother Josephine (Jessie) and brother Richard. Mel retired in 1994 after 29 years of teaching Industrial Arts in St. James and River East School Divisions. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 30 years, and volunteered his time with the church food bank and with pastoral visitations to Concordia Hospital. He was known for his great sense of humour which was sure to put a smile on everyones face. Mel enjoyed doing stained glass art, working on the hobby farm, being the family handy-man, and was happiest when he was surrounded by family, especially his three grandchildren. Prayers will be held on Sunday, July 29 at 7:00PM at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Deacon Brian Carter officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 30 at 2:00 PM at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Parish, 264 Donwood Dr. with Rev. Fr. Ray Baudry officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Mels memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Wpg., R3B 2H8 or the Canadian Diabetes Assoc., 102-310 Broadway, Wpg., R3C 9Z9.
