ROBERT "POP" KOLODY (BOHDAN KOLODIJ) 1924 - 2001 On Friday, July 27, 2001, Pop left this Earth to meet his beloved wife Iris in their land among the stars. "Pop" was born in the Ukraine and came to Canada in 1938 with his mother and four siblings. They left the Ukraine to join their father on a homestead in the district of Springwell near Lac du Bonnet, MB. He met our mother, Iris, while she was teaching at a local school in the area and were married on July 27, 1948. Pop loved the land but his growing family made him decide to seek employment elsewhere to supplement their farm income. As a construction equipment operator, Pop was employed with various companies, such as Subterranean, BACM, Manitoba Hydro and Brincheski Brothers, to name a few. He did this throughout the 1950s, 60s and 70s, seldom seeing his family, but the loss of his wife and ill health would force him into retirement in 1990. Pop devoted his time and energy the past 11 years to his family! Pop lost his precious Iris (nee Karlowsky) in 1983. Leaving to mourn are four daughters, June Karlenzig of Winnipeg, Lil Houde of Winnipeg, Margaret and Gersh Sucharov of Winnipeg and Susannah and Jack Swain of Winnipeg; and one son Murrey and Marilyn Kolody of Winnipeg. He had nine grandchildren, Sheryl, Robert, Tanya, Lonny, Crystal, Jason, Alexander, Jacob and Mathew; five great grandchildren, Adam, Melissa, Rebecca, Samantha and Anthony. He is survived by one brother Nick Kolody of Winnipeg; and two sisters, Steffie of Melita, Tilly of Winnipeg; and brother-in-law Mike Tokar of Lac du Bonnet; also many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 31 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Avenue East, Beausejour. Interment will follow at the Red Deer cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason, Lonny, and Robert Karlenzig, Daniel Karlowsky, Tony Spiloway and Richard Zaretski.
