RHODA LADYMAN January 25, 1912 - July 28, 2001 On the afternoon of July 28, 2001, we kissed you goodbye; it was time and you were ready for the final journey. May peace and happiness be with you. Rhoda was predeceased by her husband William Ladyman in 1979; and by her siblings, Sally, Jim, Margaret and Bert. Survived by one sister, Ida Kenyon and family and various relatives in Ireland and England. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Larry (Linda) and Terry (Susan) grandchildren, Bill (Lori), Blair (Maureen), Shannon and Brooke; and great-grandchildren, David, Mathew and Michael. The mere mention of the children always brought a smile to Moms face - family meant the most. Mom was born Rhoda Brown in Moneymore, County Derry, Northern Ireland and came with her family to farm in Elm Creek in 1924. Ireland was always a fond memory for her over the next 70 years. After high school came Wesley Business College (now the University of Winnipeg) and then marriage to William (Bill) Ladyman. The early years were devoted to raising sons Larry and Terry, being a wife and doing volunteer work. Rhoda was one of the five ladies who set up and ran the first library in Fort Garry - a very small wooden structure on the corner of the General Steel School grounds. Travel was one of Moms great pleasures whether it be on business trips with Dad to Europe, the U.S. and Asia; vacations to Australia, Fiji and the Caribbean; or summer trips to the family cottage at Brereton Lake. Many thanks to staff at Grace Hospital (Janie G.), Home Care staff (Brenda T., Kim), Nurse Chris C., Riverview Palliative Care staff and many friends for your help, advice and professional care. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1 at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Viewing will take place one half hour prior to the service time. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715

  • She made the best bran muffins I had ever eaten, then, and still now. I continue to think of her when I try to replicate that recipe. Thank you for the memory Mrs. Ladyman. - Posted by: Peggy Burns (an old neighbour, in every sense of the word 'old') on: Mar 12, 2020
