PAUL DIDKOWSKI November 27, 1907 - July 31, 2001 After a lengthy illness, Paul Didkowski of Winnipeg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Paul was predeceased by his wife Nadia; an infant daughter; his parents and siblings in the Ukraine. Cherishing his memory are his eight children, Nick (Susan) of Snowflake, MB, Michael (Ella) of Morden, MB, Maurice (Jean) of Estevan, SK, Stanley (Mary Lou), Mary Antoniak, Ruth Ternent, Ann (Roy) Darke and Nancy, all of Winnipeg. He is survived by 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Dad was born in Zhytomir, Ukraine, residing there until 1928. With his wife and two children he immigrated to Canada. Upon their arrival, they resided in the Tolstoi-Gardenton area until 1936, then relocated to Dominion City, living there until 1942. In March, 1942 the family moved to Snowflake, MB which is "home" to the present time. After a prosperous agricultural career, he retired from the farm in 1963, moving to Winnipeg. Dad was a very active member of the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. He served the church in many different capacities. He was an active member of the various committees, serving as a secretary, president or as a delegate to local and national conferences. He was generous in his support of the church and other Ukrainian cultural organizations by his active participation. On Dads behalf, we thank the "Home Care Staff", who made his stay at home as comfortable and possible. Special thanks to the coordinator Timmalee, orderlies Guy, Cel, Ernie, Natasha and Helen. A note of gratitude to Oleksa Morhun for his devotion and companionship during the last two years. Special word of thanks to Seven Oaks Hospital Emergency staff and the staff on 3rd floor Unit 2. There are no words that can adequately express our gratitude. Your care and devotion made his life purposeful and meaningful. Prayers will be held on Thursday, August 2 at 7:00 p.m. at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, 1175 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 3 at 9:30 a.m. also at the Cathedral with Rev. Fr. A. Harkavyi, Very Rev. Fr. H. Lakusta and Rt. Rev. Fr. S. Kiciuk officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main St., West St. Paul. The pallbearers will be his grandsons and the honorary pallbearers are his other grand-children, and great-grandchildren. Vichnaya PamYat CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements 586-8044.
