Date of Passing: Jul 29, 2001
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELSA HELEN HANDEL Peacefully, on Sunday evening, July 29, 2001, Elsa passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our dear Aunt Elsa was so very special to us and to everyone who had the honour to know her. She expressed her life through what she built in others, encouraging, strengthening and giving. She was a gifted teacher with great strength of character, which she used to enhance the lives of her students. She was highly respected by colleagues and students alike. Music was a big part of her life and she directed both amateur and professional productions. Elsa was devoted to her Mom, whom she looked after in the family home until she was 93. She was a devoted sister to Lil and Wilma (she and Wilma were best of friends all their lives and always there for each other), and to her brother John. They were a very close family and she was a devoted aunt to her nephews, John Jr. and Brock. She was like a mom to Brock and a grandmother to his three children, Brock Jr., Chelsea and Parker. She had a good sense of humour, quick wit and great "one-liners". Until the end her mind never failed her. She was intelligent, strong, capable and talented, but she lived a simple life of self sacrifice. Always gracious, never complaining, she lived one day at a time, always thankful for the smallest things done for her. She will be deeply missed by her nephews, John Handel, Brock Ferguson and their families. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 3, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 232 Kennedy Street. LEATHERDALE GARDINER 232 Kennedy Street 949-4878
