KATHLEEN (KAY) KETCHEN Peacefully, at the Holy Family Nursing Home, Kay passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2001 in her 93rd year. She was predeceased by her husband Carl in 1985 and is survived by her daughter Joyce Hearn (Eldon) and their daughters, Kathy and Joan; son Robert and his children, Kevin, Marianne, Curtis, Kelly and Christine; and 13 great-grandchildren. Kay spent many active years giving of her time and energy in a volunteer capacity. She worked with and was President of the CUAC in its beginning years. She was also active in and a President of the St. John Cantius Church, C.W.L. When the Holy Family Nursing Home Ladies Auxiliary was formed, Kay became one of its early Presidents. She had many fond memories of the Sisters with whom she worked, the many co-members of the Auxiliary and the residents. One of her favourite pastimes which gave her great pleasure, was the baking of what will always be remembered as "Grandmas Cookies". Though her sight became greatly diminished in her latter years, Grandmas enthusiasm never faltered. The family will always be grateful to the Holy Family Nursing Home - the Sister Servants of Mary Immaculate, the staff at all levels and especially to those on St. Marys Ward. To each and every one of you, we can truly say that "To Serve is to Love" is practiced every hour of every day. A great blessing to all in need of love, comfort and care. To Rena, who over the years shared many hours with "Mother" and added so much sunshine to her days, we express our heartfelt thanks. We also wish to express our gratitude to Dr. Terry Babick whose visits always gave our Mom renewed confidence. Thank you for being there for us. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 3 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Munroe Avenue and Brazier Street, East Kildonan. Interment to follow at Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery (Chapel Lawn), 3990 Portage Ave. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorial donations in Kays memory may be made to the Holy Family Nursing Home, 165 Aberdeen Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2W 1T9. HOME AT LAST We are all Gods children From the morning-hour of birth, He lets us live and laugh and love And have our day on earth; He guards us through the afternoon Till sunsets rays are cast Then one by one, with gentle words, He calls us home at last. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements 586-8044.
