Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHANS FUGLSANG (POP) OSTED Peacefully, in his sleep, on July 30, 2001 Hans passed away in his 84th year. Hans was born on October 12, 1916 in Koge, Denmark, son of Hans Peter and Emilie. Hans will be remembered by wife Elise, son Peter (Margaret), granddaughter Kate, grandson Poul (Sherri), great-grandchildren, Michael and Grace; son Hans (Gail), grandchildren, Denise (Rolf) and Hans; daughter Karen (Rob), grandsons Eli and David; and by his many friends and acquaintances. Hans was a "Canadian by Choice", having emigrated from Denmark with his wife and children in the fall of 1954. By trade, Hans was a Master Painter. During his career in Canada, he worked for Partridge Signs; Eatons Paint Shop; Taylor Painting and Decorating; and he retired from the Museum of Man and Nature in October 1981. Throughout his life, Hans was an artist. He exhibited his work at many art shows and won numerous awards. Hans was co-founder and former member of the Boards of Directors of the Federation of Associated Arts in Manitoba and the Manisphere Group of Artists. He was also former President of the Manitoba Society of Artists. Hans taught art to children and adults in schools and clubs throughout much of Manitoba and in Hay River, NT. He also conducted workshops for art teachers in several Winnipeg School Divisions. With Elise, Hans was involved for many years with the Crafts Guild of Manitoba and with the Scandinavian Pavilion at Folklorama. Music, dancing and camping have been a big part of Hans life with his family. Since his retirement, Elise and Hans have travelled extensively in the Western Hemisphere and Europe. Hans served with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles (Militia) from 1956 to 1965, where he was given the nickname "Pop". Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 3 at 10:30 a.m. from Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Highway #1 East at Green Acres Lane. A private interment will take place in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow in the Heritage Room at Green Acres. Flowers are gratefully declined.
