MARGARET "RUTH" SIMPSON Passed away peacefully July 26, 2001 in the presence of family at Willingdon Park Hospital. Ruth was born January 15, 1924 in Edmonton, AB. to Reginald "Stevie" and Irene Stevens, the family later moving to Calgary, Yorkton, SK. and finally to Winnipeg. There, as a young woman, Ruth worked for the Bank of Montreal in Winnipeg, later marrying Lloyd John Simpson in 1946. Lloyd and Ruth built their first home in Fort Garry and son Craig Cameron was born in 1961. Lloyds business took the family to Edmonton in 1970, where Ruth worked part time in the Toronto Dominion Bank. After moving back to Winnipeg in 1976, Ruth became active in the Assiniboine Chapter Sweet Adelines, in East Kildonan and also started her own advertising sign business. In 1980 the family moved to Richmond, B.C where she carried on the sign business until she took a position as clerk in the A. Maxwell Evans Cancer Clinic. Retiring in 1989, she and Lloyd moved to Abbotsford. Ruth was predeceased by her husband in 1992, after which she enjoyed the association and friendship of Widows Helping Others and also the friendship of her neighbours. Ruth will always be remembered for her cheerfulness and positive attitude in the midst of numerous physical afflictions in her twilight years. Not the least of these was cancer, which she battled courageously with dignity and grace before succumbing. A loving mother and grandmother, Ruth will be mourned by son Craig; daughter-in-law Kathryn; and grandchildren Stacey Anne, Diana Marie and Scott Alan; brother B.C. "Mickey" Stevens and his wife Lillian of Victoria; sister Lorna Lorenze of Hanover, Ontario and of course numerous friends, associates and other relatives. Youve been a good mom, Mom! In the Lords eyes you were the "good and faithful servant" that we all should hope to be... Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 1, at 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford, B.C.
