LEONA SHIELS (nee HAYWAHE) It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our mom. Leona passed away at home the way she wanted it to be, cared for by her daughter Roberta and family, in the early morning of Wednesday, August 1, 2001. We all share deep admiration of the fierce strength of her will and her passion to live. More valiant than the greatest of warriors, she suffered in silence for over 20 years while she bravely fought three major battles with cancer. Although she is no longer on the battlefield, the final victory is still hers. Heaven is now blessed with an angel with a whole bunch of mischief in her. Left on this earth to mourn her passing are her family of whom she was so proud, sons, Hugh (Lucille) and Ashley (Lolita) and daughters, Ruby McNeilly (Mike) and Roberta Campbell (Don) ten grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind two sisters, Bea Wood and Ivy Owchar and her sister-in-law Helen Shiels. She was predeceased by her husband Robert, her parents, twin sister Betty, three other sisters and one brother. Funeral service 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2001 at Bardal Funeral Chapel, 843 Sherbrook Street. Leona will be interred with her husband at Brookside Cemetery at a later date. Please donate a can to Winnipeg Harvest in her honour. Flowers gratefully declined. Should friends so desire, donations may be given to CancerCare Manitoba, ON109 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9. Happy trails to you, Mom Till we meet again.
