Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALICE BEATRICE RICHARDSON (STRATTON) On Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at 9:30 p.m., Alice, much loved mother of Rocky, Patrick and Dara Lee, passed away at the Grace Hospital at the age of 75. She was surrounded by her family and left this world peacefully. Mom was born in Winnipeg on June 25, 1926, the youngest daughter of Robert and Sigurlina Stratton. She married Ken on January 25, 1951 and spent 45 years together until he passed away July 5, 1996. Life wasnt always easy for Mom but she was a tireless worker who always gave everything she had to each situation. She worked at Eatons for many years and later retired at 55 from Dominion Stores. This was, however, not retirement for her; she spent countless hours knitting, cutting out and painting woodcrafts. Mom had just celebrated her 75th birthday and enjoyed the company of many of her nieces and nephews, her sister Emily and most important of all to her, her three children were also there to celebrate with her. Mom was a devoted wife and mother and through the years worked tirelessly for her children. Always strong willed, a bit on the stubborn side but always able to forgive (maybe not agree) she always put her family before herself. This has been so evident this past month where her every concern was for her daughter Dara Lee and not a worry for herself. Mom will be so missed by her son Rocky (Margaret), son Pat; and devoted daughter Dara Lee (Tom) her special former daughter-in-law Katy; her grandchildren, Mark, Ky, Brandi, Jason, Ainsley, Jennifer, Kendra, Taylor and Brayden; and by her great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Emily and many nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her husband Ken; son Kenny; grandson Shea; parents, Robert and Sigurlina Stratton; brothers, Robert, Alex, John; and sister Anne. The family wishes to thank all the nurses and doctors at the Grace Hospital for care and compassion at this very difficult time. Memorial service will be held at the Emerson Cemetery in Emerson, MB on Saturday, August 4 at 11:00 a.m. Lunch to be held at New Horizons Hall on Church Street. In case of inclement weather, the service will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran on Church Street. "Mom this is not goodbye because we know you will be waiting for us when we arrive." Anyone wishing to make a donation in Alices memory may do so to The Canadian Cancer Society or The Heart and Lung Association.
