JOHN OLAV STEFFENSEN At the place he loved the most, his cottage at Grindstone, John Steffensen suddenly passed away at the age of 72. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. John was born in Winnipeg, April 22, 1929 (a birthdate he shared with his grandson Scott). He worked at the Winnipeg Stockyards for over 50 years. John retired but kept his life busy with family. He was often seen at Esso helping his grandson Wes. He was a friend to everyone he met and was fondly known as Grandpa to many. You were always there when we needed you, No task too great or small With a loving heart and willing hand For us you did them all. Thanks for the years you gave us, And for the precious times we shared, We only pray that when you left us, You knew how much we cared. You will remain in our hearts. Sadly missed by your wife Ruth; daughter Linda (Rick) son Wayne (Gail) ; grandchildren, Wes, Tanis, Kim, Scott; and great-grandson Nevan. Special thanks to Lil and Peter Unger and their daughter Shelley and Paramedics and Staff at Arborg Hospital. A viewing will be held Monday, August 6 at 7:00 p.m. and memorial service Wednesday, August 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. with pastor Carol Janke officiating. In lieu of flowers if friends so desire donations can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6 or the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8.
