JESSIE ANNE BUCKINGHAM Peacefully on Friday, August 3, 2001 Jessie Anne Buckingham passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 94 years. Jessie Anne Buckingham, elder daughter of the late Jane and Walter Buckingham, born on a farm at Culross, MB on November 27, 1906. In 1929 the family moved to Winnipeg where she attended Lord Roberts Junior High and Kelvin High Schools. She received her teachers certificate at Winnipeg Normal School and University of Manitoba, she taught in Wawanesa, and Souris Manitoba before joining the Winnipeg School Division in 1930. In 1937 to 1938 she enjoyed a year as exchange teacher in New Zealand. She was a long-time member of Winnipeg Business and Professional Womens Club and attended Congresses of the International Federation in London, England, Stockholm, Sweden, Washington D.C., Montreal, Quebec, Buenos Aires and Helsinki, Finland. She was a member of Olive Branch Historic Rebekah Lodge No.1, Retired Women Teachers Association, Exchange Teachers Club and Womens Canadian Club and an active member of Augustine United Church, since 1930. Predeceased by her sister Viola (1934), her brother Clarence (1966), her mother Jane (1970) and her father Walter (1973). Survived by nephew Brett Buckingham (Winnipeg) her niece Bonnie Jean Parrott (Gord) great-nieces, Loralee Edwards (Paul), Trace Trowbridge (Jeremy), Sara-Jane Sand; and great-nephews, Jason Sand, Joel Sand, and Jonathon Sand; her cousins, Lois Watson, California and Mrs. Laura Shebeski in Sydney, BC; and several relatives in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. The family would like to thank Dr. Silverman and the staff on 7th Floor and Palliative Care for their exceptional care and kindness shown to Jessie and her family. Following cremation a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 8 at 11:00 a.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
