HELEN DEMETRIOFF (nee CHURNEY) Peacefully, on August 3, 2001 with her family by her side at the St. Boniface Hospital, Helen Demetrioff passed away, at the age of 77 years. Helen was born July 24, 1924 in Cooks Creek, MB. She is predeceased by her husband Sunny; sisters, Anne Sherby, and Mary Petelka; and brothers, John, Pete, and Bill Churney. Left to cherish Helens memory, son Gary Demetrioff (Bonnie) daughter Gail Sourisseau (Gerry) grandchildren, Shaun, Kellie, Kim, and Todd; sister-in-law Dorothy Churney; and special friends, Ollie Ciecko and Mary Watkins. Funeral service will be held Wednesday August 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home. Viewing will take place at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Helen enjoyed many vacations to Vegas with her husband Sunny. She bowled for many years at Windsor Park Lanes. She also enjoyed sports, berry picking, gardening, and fishing. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and putting others before herself. Mom had made many dear friends over her years, who will miss her daily phone chats. Our family wishes to thank the Palliative Care 8th floor St. Boniface Hospital for their care and Dr. M. Sadouski. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helens memory may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 9Z9.
