EILEEN FAIR (nee EVENDEN) June 18, 1911 - August 5, 2001 Peacefully at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg on Sunday, August 5, 2001, Eileen Fair passed away. Eileen was predeceased by her parents, Mabel and Joseph Evenden; and her husband George (nickname Pat) Fair. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Tom Fair (Pat) of Kamloops, BC; daughter Dr. Susan Fair (Gino Kost) granddaughters, Darlene and Shannon Fair, Sara and Jessica Kost; great-granddaughter Serina. Shortly after graduating from Kelvin High School, Eileen entered Teachers College, graduating in1931. She taught in rural Manitoba until she married George in 1937. Their marriage, based on mutual love and respect, spanned 55 years until Georges death in 1992. While raising her family, Eileen was handicrafts coordinator at Windsor Community Club in St. Vital, sang in the Regents Park United Church Choir, and belonged to the Eastern Star where she wrote, directed and performed in several musical benefit concerts. She and George built their cottage at Falcon Lake where they enjoyed entertaining their friends and family. She resumed her teaching career in the St. Vital School Division in 1960, teaching grade 1 until her retirement in 1971. After George retired in 1973 they moved to Kamloops, BC to be close to Toms family. They returned to Winnipeg in 1990 to be close to Susans family. Eileen avidly wrote poetry and loved to perform, singing and reciting. Her faith was very important to her as well as her United Church Womens Organization. Memorial Service was held on Thursday, August 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Chaplain Lynne Austen officiated. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eileens memory may be made to the Seven Oaks General Hospital Foundation.
