After taking a business course from St. Boniface College, Roland served in the Second World War in Germany. His working life was varied but primarily focused on sales and distribution of grains and oil products. Roland was most proud of the gasoline service station which he opened and operated in Somerset, MB. Roland was born in Somerset where he lived most of his life. He was a long standing member of AA and the Knights of Columbus, where he gained strength and helped others. He loved hockey, gardening, playing cards with family and the VLT machines. His sense of humour and easy-going manner ensured that he made a friend on every bench he sat. His family was his life. He couldnt speak of his grandchildren without a tear in his eye. He passionately loved Claire, his wife of 57 years, with whom he would share a chocolate bar and a nightly drive while holding hands. She was his "tresor" until the end. He was loved and will be sorely missed.
