Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAURETTA ANN RITCHIE August 2, 1906 - August 4, 2001 Two days after her 95th birthday, Lauretta Ritchie passed away peacefully at the Misericordia Health Centre, Interim Care. Lauretta was predeceased by her husband Jack in 1967 and her only son Bob in 1997. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Jackie Greenhalgh (Ted), and granddaughters, Heather and Carolyn Ritchie. Also left to miss her are her niece Valerie Ayers (Chris) of Toronto; nephew Ken (Adeline) of Winnipeg; and several relatives in Minnesota. Lauretta was born Loretta Greskowiak on a farm in Minto, ND. As a young adult she moved to Winnipeg, changed her last name to Covic, and worked as a typist at Norwich Union and the Hudsons Bay Company. She married Jack in 1937 and as a devoted wife and mother, always enjoyed cooking for large crowds at special holidays. Her pies were the best! She was a life-long member of St. Ignatius Church and attended services faithfully every week until she became housebound. This dear lady outlived all her family, and most of her friends. At last Lauretta will be reunited with her loved ones whom she missed so much. Just at the moment when we at this side whisper, "There, she is gone.", there are others waiting on the other side as she approaches, and they joyously exclaim, "Here she comes!" Special thanks go out to Jerry Floom and Home Care workers Jackie, Marlene, Monica, and Annette who made her last few years at home comfortable; thanks also to the Misericordia Health Centre for their compassion. Funeral service will be at graveside, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband and son on Friday, August 10. Friends are asked to gather at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., at 10:45 a.m. Goodbye Grannie. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
