DORIS SMITH Doris passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on August 3, 2001. Doris is survived by her sister Elizabeth Livingston; brother Gordon and wife June Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews all of Nova Scotia. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Florence, Hazel, Jennie and brothers Bill and Howard. Doris was born in Nova Scotia but spent most her her life in the Prairie Provinces teaching in Indian Schools. She worked in Winnipeg for the Childrens Aid Society as a foster mother in group homes until her retirement. Doris was a past president and lifetime member of the Anglican Young Peoples Association and a life member of the Womens Auxiliary with missionary standing in Canada from 1954. Doris was a devoted member of the Anglican Church. She was a truly gifted and talented woman whose heart and life centred around caring for Native children and missionary work for the Anglican Church. She was loved by all those who knew her and will be sadly missed. A memorial service will be held in Doris honour at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8 at All Saints Anglican Church, 175 Colony St. Her ashes will be interred at a later date in Nova Scotia.
