Date of Passing: Aug 05, 2001
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARJORIE SZACH (nee SEMENIUK) Marjorie Szach slipped away peacefully on August 5, 2001, after a fierce struggle with cancer. In the loving arms of her beloved family: husband Jerry; son Bryant Knox, his wife Linda and the joy of her life - granddaughters, Leanne and Alisa Knox. Survived by brother Stanley Simmons, niece Cheryl Inkster with husband Joe and their children, Tanya and Joseph; Cheryls mother Molly Simmons and brother-in-law Eugene Szach, his wife Doreen and daughter Natasha of Winnipeg, plus many cousins and other relatives across Canada and the U.S.A., and countless friends in both countries, as well as in Mexico, Hong Kong, Cuba and numerous other places around the world. Marjorie was born on December 10, 1918, in Winnipeg, attended school and grew up there before moving to Vancouver in 1958. She worked more than 40 years for the CIBC in both cities and retired in 1983, while making lifelong friends along the way. She enjoyed all that life had to offer: music, singing, acting, Ukrainian embroidery, gymnastics in her younger years, gourmet cooking, picking up rocks and tending her flowers. In short, she loved beauty in all its forms. She always found beauty where others would sometimes never look. Anyone who worked or socialized with Marjorie knew her as a woman of boundless energy - kind, unselfish, always willing to share and to help someone, be it friend or stranger. She was one of a kind and the mold has been cast away. The family expresses its genuine, sincere gratitude to all the wonderful care givers at Lions Gate Hospital. In particular all the nurses like Ramona in emergency, Sabine and Karin in Intensive Care, Ila and Jeanine and all the others in Palliative Care. You did for her exactly what she would have done for you - show compassion for a fellow human being. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 13 at Ocean View (4000 Imperial St., Burnaby) at 2:00 p.m., with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Palliative Care Ward of Lions Gate Hospital, 231 East 15th St., North Vancouver, BC V7L 2L7) would be greatly appreciated.
