Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTAN CZANK 1923 - 2001 Peacefully, with his wife by his side, Stan Czank passed away at Concordia Hospital on August 7, 2001. Dad leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife Nadia of 57 years; son Wally of Calgary; daughter Olga and husband Gary Komoski; daughter Regina and husband Rod Kachulak. Dad was blessed with six wonderful grand-children, Nola Wedlake and husband Adam, Colleen and Lisa Kachulak, David, Kristi and Bobby Czank of Calgary. Also left to mourn are a niece and sister-in-law in Ukraine. Dad was predeceased by his parents and brother in Ukraine. Dad was born March 31, 1923 selo Stryhanchi, Ivano Frankovsk, W. Ukraine. He was forced to leave his beloved Ukraine at the tender age of 19. In Germany, he quickly learned to speak several languages in order to survive the hardships of the war. It was at that time that he met the most wonderful woman who would become his wife and lifelong support and partner. Dad and Mom started their family in Germany with the surprise arrival of twins, Wally and Olga. After the war ended, Dad and family were lucky enough to find a new home in Australia. It was in Australia that their family was completed with Reginas birth. In Australia, Dad and Mom worked hard to provide for their young family, but Dad felt that there were more opportunities for himself and his family in Canada. In 1963, he and the family embarked on the long journey to Canada. Dad quickly found employment with Dominion Bridge and worked there until his retirement in 1985. It was from this time that he spent many leisurely weekends at Camp Rusulka near Gimli. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren playing on the beach, the weekend parties and the comradery of fellow campers. In 1989, Dad was reunited with his brother Frank who came to visit from Ukraine. This ended a 47 year separation. Luckily, Dad was able to visit Ukraine in 1993, 1996, and 1999. He wanted so dearly to go again and visit his birthplace. Divine liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 10 at Holy Eucharist Church, Munroe and Watt Street, with Rev. Darren Kawiuk officiating. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Stans name may be made to Diabetes or Heart and Stroke Foundation. Special appreciation to the caregivers who were so compassionate to Dad, the VONs, the 3rd floor staff at Concordia, and Dr. Mohammed. We love you Dad. Forever Remembered.
