METRO PAZIUK Peacefully on Tuesday, August 7, 2001, Metro passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital after a brief illness. Metro was born on October 5, 1929 near Fraserwood, MB and moved to Winnipeg in his late teens. Metro was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Ksenia Paziuk; his brothers, Nick, Mike, Paul and Tony; and sister Mary. Surviving and mourning the loss of this wonderful man is his brother John (Eileen) Paziuk; sisters, Kay (Joe) Schwenk, Pauline Rogers, Anne (Bert) Borys and Lorraine (Denis) Franklin. Metro is also survived by many nephews and nieces who were so very proud to call this man uncle. Metro lived most of his life in the Weston area of Winnipeg. He was employed by the Winnipeg School Division No. 1 for 18 years as a custodian. Moonie, as he was affectionately known, was a man who made friends with everyone. He was so well liked by the staff and students of King Edward School that he was presented a Citizen of the Year Award in 1994. Uncle Moonies house was always a fun place to go especially for many of his nephews and nieces as they were growing up. They all knew that when it was time to leave, chocolate bars would be handed out. He was known as the Candy Man. As one of his 5 year old great-nieces once said, "He makes my life happy." Prayers will be said on Thursday, August 9 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church at Logan and Ada. Funeral mass will take place on Friday, August 10 at 10:00 a.m., also at the church. Interment at Brookside Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the church hall. In Our Hearts, Forever. In lieu of flowers, donations in Metros memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
