Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryREG HOWARD Quietly, at his residence, on Thursday, August 9, 2001, Reg Howard, aged 79 years, beloved husband of Eleanor Howard, of Stonewall. Born November 20, 1921 at Mather, MB, Reg came to Stonewall with his family in 1934 and worked in his Dads Red and White Store for a number of years and then was employed at Stony Mountain Correctional Institution for 32 years as a Hobby Officer. Reg was a very avid sportsman. In 1946 to 1948 he played and coached in the English League for the Nottingham Panthers, played and later coached the Stonewall Flyers for many years, and completed his hockey career with the Stonewall Old Timers playing until he was 63. He played baseball with the C.U.A.C. Blues in the Senior League, later coaching the Balmoral Orioles as well as coaching minor teams in hockey and baseball. He enjoyed playing golf until the time of his passing. He was a veteran of the Second World War serving in the R.C.A.F. and was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Stonewall Branch No. 52. Surviving besides his wife Eleanor, son Robert (Lois), daughter Lori (Gerald) Grandmont, Charles (Marielle) Romanchuk, Lucy (Richard) Medwid, Michael (Janie) Desjarlais, Marc Desjarlais; grandchildren, Michael and Kelly Howard, Jena and Josh Grandmont, David, Eric and Lea Romanchuk, Laura and Jeff Medwid, Dyan and Anthony Connolly; sister Faye (Jack) Bishop and nephews, Howard and Clifford and families; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Earl Mollard, Joel (Bogi) (Marielle) Hutson, Doreen (Len) Miller, Elaine (Norm) Goudie, Kathy Mollard, Betty (Claire) Strowe; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, his younger brother Nelson, sister-in-law Bernice Hutson and brothers-in-law, Ron Mollard and Bill Mollard. Prayer service will be held on Monday, August 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Rev. Mary Best will officiate with Legion Rights at the service. Honorary pallbearers, Don Mollard, Ken Kikukawa, Art Essery, Bob Essery, Cal Croy, Durrell Sanders, Al Lillies, Ralph Paterson, Wes McGilivary, Ed Pirie, Charlie Hubbard, Bert Pless. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to Rosewood Lodge, Stonewall or the Alzheimers Society, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall, in care of arrangements.
