Genevieve was born in Tyndall, MB on October 24, 1915 to Martin and Petronella Picknicki. On June 8, 1941, she married George Groinus in Brightstone, MB. They began their married life in Ladywood and moved to Prairie Grove in 1947 where together they operated a dairy farm. After many years of hard work, they retired and found various activities to keep them busy. They enjoyed going to "The Club" (Prendergast Centre), playing cards, making perogies, dancing and travelling. Genevieve offered her continuous support whenever we needed it. She understood the power of love and strength of family, and instilled these values in us through words and actions. Throughout her life Genevieve filled our homes with cheer and laughter and leaves with us memories that we will carry in our hearts forever. The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff and caregivers at both Northeast Home Care and Concordia General Hospital, especially those who cared for her during her final days. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, August 14 at 7:00 p.m., in St. Bernadette Catholic Parish, 820 Cottonwood Rd. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 15 at 10:00 a.m., also in the church, with Rev. Fr. Fred Olds presiding. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6 or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8. "Your journey on Earth is complete and God has called you home. Rest peacefully." GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
